Your comfort, dignity and privacy are important to us

If you are having an examination and would like someone else present, you can request a CHAPERONE.

 

What is a Chaperone?

A Chaperone is a trained member of staff who can be present during your examination, provide reassurance and support and help maintain your dignity and privacy.

 

When is a Chaperone offered?

We will offer a chaperone for intimate examinations (such as breast, genital or rectal exams or situations where you may feel uncomfortable or vulnerable

 

Your Choice

You can request a chaperone at any time.  You can decline a chaperone if one is offered.  If a chaperone is not available at the time of your appointment, we can rearrange your appointment.

 

Please Ask

If you would like a chaperone, please either let your doctor, nurse or reception staff know. 

 

This is in line with guidance from the General Medical Council.
